Visa to Russia for citizens of Norway

Norwegian citizens who are planning to visit Russia must previously obtain a visa corresponding to the purpose of their journey. This can be done by applying at the licensed IFS Visa Center of the Russian Federation in Norway. You can apply for a single, double, or multiple entry visa in accordance with your travel purpose and dates of journey.

Tourist Visa

You must apply for this type of visa if you plan a trip of no longer than 30 days. This visa allows a single or double entry to Russia.

  • Recent photograph of 3.5 x 4.5 – glue it into your application
  • Tourist invitation (presented in copy).
  • Medical travel Insurance, with a coverage of at least 30 000 €

Obtain a tourist invitation

We offer you a tourist invitation if you go to Russia for no more than 30 days to travel, visit friends and relatives. Your invitation will be issued by the official Russian tourist operator, indicating your accommodation in Russia, dates of travel, and your passport details.

Business Visa

If you plan to stay in Russia from 90 days to 1 year with business purpose, you need to apply for a business visa. This type of visa allows single, double and multiple entry.

Business letter of invitation from the Russian company

A Norwegian citizen may obtain a business visa to Russia if he provides an official letter of invitation from the Russian inviting company. The inviting company should be licensed by Federal Migration Service of Russia to be allowed to issue the appropriate invitation.

Work Visa

If you are planning to get employment in the Russian Federation and going to stay in the country for long periods of time, you need to obtain a work visa. To apply for a work visa, you must first obtain a work permit and a work invitation. Work visa is issued for a period from 3 months to 3 years.

Processing time: 4-10 working days

Main documents for Work Visa:

  • Your valid passport
  • Filled in application form (from the website visa.kdmid.ru)
  • Recent Photo 3.5 x 4.5
  • Official work invitation issued by the Russian Federal Migration Service
  • Medical travel Insurance, with a coverage of at least 30 000 €
  • HIV/AIDS certificate valid for 3 months. Obligatory when applying for a visa of longer than 3 months stay.

Private Visa

If you want to visit your relatives in Russia, you can apply for a private visa. With a private visa, you can stay in Russia for up to 90 days, with the possibility of single or double entry.  To receive the invitation for a private visa, the Russian host must contact the local federal migration service office. The cost of a private visa: 315 NOK + 300 NOK (service fee)

Main documents for Private Visa:

  • An invitation issued by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the relevant Russian Federal migration service. The invitation is issued on the basis of a petition: by a citizen of Russia, a foreign citizen with a residence permit in Russia, or a legal body.
  • Your valid passport
  • Filled in application form (from the website visa.kdmid.ru)
  • Health insurance policy for the entire duration of your trip

To make a private invitation, your host will need to provide:

  • Income Statement
  • Letter of Guarantee
  • Bank Statement
  • Pay the duty of 800 rubles

Because of the complicated and long process of applying for a private visa, we recommend you to apply for a tourist or business visa instead. If you still have decided to receive a private invitation, you can do so by asking your host to apply to the nearest Russian FMS office.
